Required Vaccinations
Proof of the following Vaccinations are required and given at least 10 days prior to your dogs or cats arrival at Ruffin’ Inn. This is required for all boarding, daycare and grooming guest to keep our pet population safe and healthy. Please upload a current copy of your pets vaccinations from your veterinarian for our records or email them to [email protected]
Dog Vaccinations
-DHPP or Distemper Vaccine
1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza
-Bordetella-Kennel Cough Vaccine Required every 12 months, however, we recommend every 6 months & at least 14 days prior to check-in to ensure maximum efficiency & protection against Kennel Cough Please note: many veterinarians administer this vaccine only by request and it is not part of a yearly physical.
-Rabies 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required. Puppies under 6 months we will make an exception, please verify this first with staff!
Canine Influenza Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against Canine Influenza respiratory illness. Canine Influenza was introduced in Chicago in 2015 when dogs from Korea arrived infected with this virus. Symptoms may be the same as Kennel cough. Dogs that may benefit from canine influenza vaccination include those that receive the Bordetella vaccine, because the risk groups are similar.
Consult your veterinarian for more advice, but we do highly recommend this vaccine for all our guests. Fecal check A yearly test for fecal parasites done by your vet is required prior to being boarded. If your dog is on a broad spectrum monthly heart worm preventative program year round, we will waive this fecal check requirement. Please ask!
Cat Vaccinations

*Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus & Panleukopenia

1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
Fleas & Ticks for all guests
In addition to vaccinations, all pets should be flea and tick free, with a yearly negative fecal parasitic worm test. We do recommend all pets be treated monthly with a flea and tick product.
Canine guests with signs of fleas and/or ticks will be treated at the pet owners expense prior to check-in.
Unfortunately, feline guests with signs of fleas and/or ticks will not be permitted to check-in at the Lodge.
All guest who show signs of illness upon arrival will not be allowed to stay.
If your pet becomes sick or shows signs of illness while staying at Ruffin’ Inn, know we will contact you immediately!
